After travelling over 1,000 kilometres in just under two and a half days, Gondwana Outdoor Addict Kristan’s feet touched ground first at the finishing line of the Icarus Trophy. He was followed shortly after by David Wainwright, who was just only four minutes behind him.
“I finally finished the Icarus trophy today and I'm stoked to be the FIRST one across the finish line. Thank you so much to everyone for your well wishes and words of encouragement.” Says Kristan Fischer.
Kristan Fischer self-selected to compete in the Adventure Class, choosing to fly the course supported. David raced unsupported, which means he has been awarded the Race Class Trophy.
“Extraordinarily scary. Extraordinarily amazing.” Kristan has been quoted as saying.
Throughout the race Kristan reached as high as 10,000ft and was low enough at times to skim the tree tops. His chosen route has been described as featuring more hilly and remote terrain than the routes selected by other pilots. For Kristan taking the risk has paid off.
